运动惯性信息在视频编解码中的应用
Motion inertia-based algorithms for digital video coding
【摘要】 为了改善视频编解码器的性能,提出了一种惯性预补偿技术,可以跟踪由物体运动惯性引起的视频序列在时域上的相关性。借助这种技术,为视频编码器的运动估计单元寻找到相当精确的初始运动矢量,给运动补偿结果带来近1dB的增益。同时,结合简单的前背景分割,这种预补偿技术可以使解码端在仅使用块运动矢量的情况下得到比传统帧插值技术更平滑的重建效果,有效地提高了视频回放的帧率。H.263编解码器的实验表明:上述方法可以提高视频编解码器的实际性能。
【Abstract】 Video coding is a key component of multimedia communications. A series of inertia-based algorithms were developed to improve the performance of video coders using an inertia-based motion pre-compensation technique to track the temporal correlation between successive video frames. The technique helps find an accurate initial motion vector for motion estimation which improves the compensation performance by about 1 dB. Also, at the decoder end, the pre-compensation process, together with simple image segmentation, leads to a smoother interpolation result than traditional approaches. Experiments with the H.263 codec show that the proposed algorithms greatly improve the coding performance in practical scenes.
