【Abstract】 To describe the processes of deriving information of forest vegetation and other land covers from Landsat TM data by means of decision tree and analytic hierarchical process methods combined with techniques such as spectral threshold algorithm, supervised and unsupervised classifications and the manual interpretation. The current forest cover percentage and dynamic change in the research area since the beginning of protecting forest project for Changjiang River in 1989 have been worked out.
