【Abstract】 Interoperability can be divided into three levels,which locate at different position on the curve of cost against functionality. Lowering the curve and movement along the curve is encouraged now. One of interoperability approaches is the metadata harvesting protocol of the Open Archives Initiative (OAI), which is discussed in details in this paper. The author firstly gives an overview of OAI technical framework and OAI Metadata Harvesting Protocol (OAI MHP), then introduces how to design and integrate a metadata harvesting system. And finally the author evaluates benefits of the three levels of metadata interoperability and foresees the application vision in scientific database.更多还原
