【Abstract】 The literary of Wallace Stevens,an American poet,can be revealed through a functional stylistics of his poem <Of Mere Being>. e. the insistence on the spontaneity of objects and combination of reality with imagination. These ideas are proved by his use of the transitivity of clauses,word set,alliteration,assonance,pronouns,cohesion and images.
