【Abstract】 Polysemy is an obvious artistic feature in Scarlet Letter.In this paper,the cause of polysemy is disserted from two systems:the form and the immplication.For the system of form,importance is attached to analyzing the opening which is caused by artistic blank and symbolic technique.For the system of importance,importance is attached to interpreting the contradiction and complexity which is gifted by religious spirit-the nucleus.Moreover,the unique glamour and literary value of Scarlet Letter is reaffirmed by the mutual permeation of the two systems.更多还原
