【Abstract】 After China’s failure in the war between China and Japan in 1895, the whole country was shocked and many suggestions of strengthening China were made one after another. Hu Yu-fen, who was then the master of Shun-tian, also advanced his viewpoints after analysing the causes of the failure to the Qing government in the hope of reformng military system with advanced western ways. In the end, he was allowed to organize and train Dingwu Army, and initiated the training of the new army which became the source of station training and the cornerstone of land forces of the Northern Warlord.更多还原
