【Abstract】 History of metallurgy is component part of history of science & Technology. Its study method generally is the same with that of history of science & Technology , but has its specific characteristics. The experience and lesson in methods for study of History of metallurgy were acquired from archaeometallurgy research during the past 30 years in Institute of Historical Metallurgy & Materials, USTB. The main methods are as follows: 1.Collection of ancient literature & geological information. 2. investigation of ancient mining, smelting & casting sites and traditional technigues.3.Analysis and Examination of ancient metals, slags, moulds and other remains of metallurgy.4.Laboratory investigation on ancient technology of metallurgy by imitating experiments.5.Comprehensive study and combine archaeometallurgy with many other fields of nature science and social science, such as metallurgy and material sciences, geology and mineralogy, physics and chemistry, archaeology and history, etc..更多还原
