【Abstract】 With the development of Internet, IP services are increasing explosively, which requiresthe construc- tion of the next-generation optical network that will effi- ciently support IP services. The optical Internet, asone of the solutions, hasdrew great attention from the telecom- munication industry and become the focusof research. In thispaper, we discussthe architecture of the optical In- ternet, based on single-hop-only and multiple-hopenabl- ed optical network respectively.
