【Abstract】 The actuality of ecological environment is closely related to the actuality of land use,and land use change is an important driving force of causing the regional ecological environment change and can make the ecological environment develop positively or negatively. Occurrence of dust storms is a signal of deterioration of the ecological environment,therefore,to timely understand the actuality and dynamic change of land use change can reveal the problems of ecological environment,guide the rational land use,and promote the virtuous circle of ecological environment and the regional sustainable development. This paper analyzes a serious dust storm occurred in winter 2002,the actuality of land use and the dynamical change of land cover patterns in Tacheng Prefecture,Xinjiang,by using the interpreted results of the TM remote sensing images during the period from 2000 to 2002. It is considered that one of the dominant factors resulting in the serious dust storm is that the land cover is destroyed by human activities. The project of withdrawing from farming to afforesting and grass planting is an important work for improving the ecological environment,so it is suggested to make every effort to implement this project in Xinjiang.更多还原
