The gear wheels of modern cars match fast and steady nibbles when changing the shelves,and are not allowed to go out of track while working, and thus they are shaped like reverse cones. The traditional detection method is not suitable for the gear wheels. The ball measure detection which can measure the thickness of the gearing is relatively more practical for production. This paper introduces the theoretical foundation for the measure and instances are given.
