【Abstract】 Miyawaki’s ecological method to reforestation is a new way for urban greening. It depends on the theories of potential natural vegetation and succession. Constructed by planting container seedlings of native tree species, it is considered to be faster than the succession process of zonal forest in the same region. It is also preferred for its merits of low construction cost, complete community structure, high diversity and biomass and less maintenance in later stage. The method has been successfully applied in about 1200 places all over the world. Application of the method in the city area is one of the best ways of greening the outerringroad in Shanghai.
