【Abstract】 On the basis of current two-level strategy of automatic dimensioning, a new three-level strategy is put forward. And a dimension model which is oriented to the new strategy and based on the functional semantics is advanced. Meanwhile, the role played by the dimension model in the process of automatic dimensioning is presented, and the whole structure of the dimension model is developed. At the same time, four levels of the dimension model which are shaping level, locating level, machining level, assembly level of functional semantics are defined in detail.
