【Abstract】 The traditional course-oriented standard ISO6983 isthe bottleneck to NC development, thus a new object-orientedstandard STEP-NC (also called ISO14649)thus, comes up. Firstlythis paper sets forth the disadvantages of ISO6983 and the advan-tages of STEP-NC. Next it is analysed the detail make-up, filestructure, description methods and production methods of theproduct data model based on STEP-NC. After that the compositionof CNC system based on STEP-NC is invesigated. Then concep-tion and accomplishment approach principle of SOFT open C, NCbased on STEP-NC is brogut forward.
