【Abstract】 In this parper the author has discussed three questions: the definition of po lysemous words,the semantic units of polysemous words and their relations .The a uthor thinks that polysemous words should be words,polysemous morphemes are not polysemous words,all semantic units of polysemous words coexist in the same ling uistic system,and the meanings of words that have not entered this system are no t the semantic units of polysemous words.The semantic units of polysemous words can be observed in two dimensions:original meaning and derivative meaning are in diachronic dimension,and basic meaning and unbasic meaing are in synchronic dim ension,so we can’t confuse these two.更多还原
