【Abstract】 Negative transfer of mother tongue is a common phenomenon in English learning. How to avoid this kind of transfer is a subject worth studying. This paper, with the aid of the contrastive analyses method, analyses the phenomenon of negative transfer with regard to three respects: language, mode of thinking and style of writing, Chinese and Western culture.
