【Abstract】 Little more than just a few lines about Yang Ru can be found in any historical records, but Yang Ru was the man sent by the Qing Government in 1900 as minister plenipotentiary to negotiate with Russia over the status of China’s Northeast. In defiance of enormous pressure from the Russian side, Yang Ru saw through their tricks and refused to put his signature to a treaty that would have harmed China" s territorial integrity.
