【Abstract】 A low cost and environmentally - friendly styrene / acrylic emulsion has been developed based on acrylic monomers, styrene and other crosslinking monomers by core - shell emulsion polymerization, which can be used for middle - grade architectural coatings and its property is not lower than the conventional styrene/acrylic emulsion. The influences of ratio of hard / soft monomers, amount of acrylic acid, crosslinking monomer, emulsifier and initiator on the performance of coatings were discussed.
