Nd0.007 Gd0.993VO4晶体折射率和折射率温度系数的测量

【摘要】 利用自准直法 ,在 2 0℃到 170℃温度范围和 0 .4 880 μm、0 .6 32 8μm、1.0 6 4 0 μm、1.0 795 μm、1.3414 μm等波长测量了Nd0 .0 0 7Gd0 .993 VO4晶体的折射率 ,得到了这种晶体的Sellmeier方程和折射率温度系数。为了验证得到结果的可靠性 ,利用得到的Sellmeier方程计算 1.0 6 4 0 μm的寻常光和异常光的折射率 ,并与实验测量的结果进行比较 ,两者的差异不大于 2 .2× 10 -4,处在测量误差的范围内。测量结果表明在室温下 ,对 1.0 6 4 0 μm波长的双折射率为 0 .2 2 0 1,双折射率温度变化率为 4 .3× 10 -6/℃。因此 ,与YVO4相仿 ,这种晶体不仅是一种优秀的激光基质材料 ,而且是一种优秀的双折射晶体。

【Abstract】 The principal refractive indices of Nd 0.007Gd 0.993VO 4 crystal at wavelengths of 0.4880,0.6328, 1.0640,1.0795 and 1.3414μm in the temperature range from 20℃ to 170℃ were measured by auto-collimation method. The Sellmeier’s equation and the thermal refractive index coefficients for this kind of crystal were obtained.In order to check their reliability,the refractive indices at 1.0640μm in different temperatures were calculated by the Sellmeier’s equation and then compared with the measured values.As a result,the difference between the calculated results and the measured results is less than 2.2×10 -4,which situates in the error range of our measurement.In addition,the measured results show that the birefringence Δ n is 0.2201 at 20℃ and temperature coefficient of birefringence is 4.3×10 -6/℃ at 1.0640μm.Therefore,it can be expected that the GdVO 4 crystal is not only an excellent laser crystal but also an excellent birefringent crystal used as passive fiber-optic components in modern optical transmission systems.
