【Abstract】 Zhang Jian, industrialist and educationalist, had established Nantong’s status as the base of Chinese modern national industry. Based on his ieda, Nantong had gained its unique city layout: the old city area at its center with three towns, Tangzha (an industrial area), Tiansheng (a port) and Langshan (a scenic spot) circling around it. The readjustment of parts of the inner city changed the city’s ancient distribution: a symmetrically square with crossroads going through it. This pastoral city distribution pattern decentralized the city’s functions and had exerted a tremendous influence on the city’s spatial development.更多还原
