【Abstract】 Ambient-temperature ionic liquid (AIL) is a kind of catalyst and green solvent. The first kind of AIL was synthesized in early 20th century. The other kinds of AIL were founded then. The physical and chemical properties of AIL such as melting point, density, viscosity, electric conductivity and electrochemistry, thermal stable and incombustibility, biodegradation, catalysis and relation between anion and cation’s structure and constituent and the properties were discussed in this paper.
