【Abstract】 To study the relationship between soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1)and macrovascular complication of type 2 diabetic patients. Methods 38 patients with type 2 diabetic were employed in our study, who had no hypertension and hyperlipemia. All patients were divided into two groups matched for age, sexand fasting blood glucose level. One was macrovascular complication group(n=18 ,who had macrocascular complications in lower leg),the other was control group(n=20, who had no macrocascular complications).Serum sVCAM-1 level was measured in all patients by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Result The serum sVCAM-1 level of macrovascular complication group is significantly higher than that of control group (644.28±75.97ng/ml vs 424.85±82.79ng/ml,t=8.48, p<0.01). Conclusion sVCAM-1 May play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetic macrovascular complication in type 2 diabetes mellitus. The determination of serum sVCAM-1 may be useful for early diagnose and treatment of diabetic macrovascular complication.
