【Abstract】 Both Chinese and English are rich in the idioms in which the vehicle is an animal.Because of the discrepancy between the two languges deriving from the differences of the speakers’ cultural backgrounds, traditional customs, and aesthetic interest, the animal vehicles and their associative meanings are often different in English and Chinese idioms.
