【Abstract】 The study of metaphor has a long history dating back to Aristotle. Scholars offered explanations as to the nature and its functions respectively. This article introduces briefly three metaphor theories from different perspectives—rhetoric, cognition and grammar. Then the article further discusses similarities as well as differences among them. Through the discussion, this article aims at gaining a better understanding of metaphor.更多还原
