【Abstract】 This article addresses the concept ofsustainability which is not only a model, an ideal setof goals to work toward, but also a philosophy forenvisioning those goals and a practical problem-solving process for achieving them, and provideslocal governments with a framework of knowledgethat they can use to sustain their communities throughthe planning and development of the built environment.Its objectives are, first, to demystify and "practicalize"the concept of sustainability and, second, to explainhow local governments can apply the important toolsof this process to achieving sustainable communities.更多还原
