【摘要】 北极涛动 (ArcticOscillation ,简称AO)和南极涛动 (AntarcticOscillation ,简称AAO)分别用于描述北半球和南半球热带外气候变率的主要模态 ,它们分别是北半球和南半球中纬度和高纬度之间气压变化的跷跷板结构。作者利用 1 95 8年 1月~ 1 999年 1 2月的NCEP/NCAR全球再分析月平均资料、北极涛动指数IAO和南极涛动指数IAAO来研究AO和AAO的年变化特征以及AO和AAO与纬向平均的月平均各要素场的相关系数随纬度和月份的变化规律。

【Abstract】 The Arctic Oscillation (AO) is a leading mode of variability of the extratropical Northern Hemisphere, i.e, a seesaw pattern in which atmosphere pressure at polar and middle latitudes fluctuates between positive and negative phase. The Antarctic Oscillation(AAO) is similar to AO, but for the Southern Hemisphere. By use of the NCEP/NCAR January 1958~December 1999 reanalysis data and the AO and AAO indices, some characteristics of annual variations of the Arctic and Antarctic Oscillations are studied, and annual variations of correlation coefficients between some meteorological elementary field and the AO and AAO indices are also investigated.
