【Abstract】 This paper provides a detailed discussion about the development of online courses for the humanities, taking the course A Legal History of China as an illustration. The authors hold the view that the developers of online courses should first be aware of the positioning of courses at the outset. With regard to A Legal History of China, the objective is "to represent all of the basic content of the course and to enable students to complete the learning units". Second, one should be clear about the target group. In our example, the target population is the law majors in the university and may also include the non-law majors who have completed their senior high-school studies. Third, in order to formulate high-quality course design, developers should have a firm grasp of the teaching content. The curriculum has to be examined in detail and the difficult points should be made more comprehensible. In designing learning tasks, the content needs to be contextualized. For example, in A Legal History of China, the curriculum covers the legal systems throughout China’s various dynasties, and thus the course should be viewed as inter-disciplinary, made up of law and history. Last, to better utilize the strengths of information technologies, each learning task should be coupled with an appropriate technology. With reference to the requirements and characteristics of the course A Legal History of China, text, graphics, hyperlinks, interactive materials and a small number of FLASH animations are used effectively.更多还原
