【Abstract】 The compensation system for ecological effects of forests is a new kind of forestry investment mechanism suitable for the socialist market-oriented economy. It is necessary and urgent to set up such a system. The system should mainly consist of setting up a compensation fund for ecological effects of forests, adopting classified forest management and implementing the responsibility system for tending non -commercial forests.
