【Abstract】 With the plane strain apparatus capable of measuring local lateral strain, a series of consolidated non drainage plane strain compression tests are carried out on Shanghai undisturbed clay samples. A localized deformation was really observed in these tests. During the tests, the samples experienced the process of progressive failure, including strain bifurcation, deviating stress peak, full formation of shear bands and residual deviating stress in sequence. Some qualitative laws of localized deformation for Shanghai clay were presented.更多还原
