【Abstract】 Written by Sun Yuanhua towards the end of the Ming Dynasty, Taixi Suanyao is an important book for the introduction of Western mathematics into China. It had been regarded lost until its manuscript was found by some members of the Shanghai Committee of Preservation of Cultural Relics when they were collating Xu Guangqi’s works in 1983. Taixi Suanyao introduces resolutions through written addition, substraction, multiplication, division, evolution, sequence and proportion. In it, the resolutions of extractiong the root of a fourth power and a fifth power, and their explanations by the traditional Chinese Fang, Lian and Yu, are unique and surpass the other Chinese mathematical books then.更多还原
