【Abstract】 The application of distributed control system (DCS) plays an important role in process control. In China, considerable amount of distributed control systems have been installed and the trend is still increasing. But the operation level in most of the applications is not high enough. In this paper the intension of the operation level is described. The approaches to enhance the operation level from several aspects, i.e. , communication function, control function, optimization function and security function are discussed respectively.
