【Abstract】 This paper simple introduced the conceptual principles and development ofGeographic Information System, meantime .discussed the advantage and feasibility ofapplying GIS in oil and gas resources appraising, and this method can be used as the basisfor the depression appraising in surrounding basins of Liaohe to build the GeologicalIIiforrnation System(GIS) of surrounding basins in Liaohe.
