【Abstract】 Based on the separating phase model, it is proposed that the circulating movements of particles in liquid-solid fluidized beds are caused by the parabolic radial distribution of liquid velocity. This parabolic distribution leads the particles in the axial region to move upward and those near the wall to move downward. The turning point is found to ber=R[1-d2p·ε4.836·u0·μ·β(ρs-)g]12Experimental results of liquid residence time distribution show good evidence of the parabolic distribution of liquid velocioy. For the particle velocity radial distribution, good agreements between the model and the reported data were achieved.
