【Abstract】 In order to solve the problems of using unit hydrographs with over-simplification in conventional methods,this paper proposes a novel expert system to select the unit hydrographs automatically varying with time. Firstly, it studies the relationships between the characteristics of rainfall and unit hydrographs of river basin. Then a real ES is established by using the advanced software system powerbuilder.
