【Abstract】 A method of fairing B-spline curves by wavclet decomposition is invcStigated. First, the B-spline curve defined by arbitrary knot vector is approximated by a quasi-uniform B-spline forming the base for multiresolution representations. Then, the fairing process can be realized step by step. An error control approach is suggested to ensure that the fairing is satisfactory Also, the wavelet-based fairing method possesses the function to reduce the number of control vertices,i.e.the function of dare compression.
