【Abstract】 The possibility of using near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) to evaluate quality of sulfathiazole is investigated. Multivariate statistical classification techniques (hierarchical analysis, stepwiss analysis, principal component analysis and stepwise discriminant analysis) have been used for identifying qualified, poor and false pharmaceuticals of salfathiazole accordng to their first derivative spectra obtained by NIRS.
