【Abstract】 A class of nonsmooth functions being the piecewise maximum of finite smooth functions is investigated. Effective index sets of max type functions are introduced. According to the compatibility of a linear inequality system, an algorithm for determining the effective index set of a max type function is proposed. An exact formula of generalized second order directional derivatives in the sense of Chaney for max type functions is also given.更多还原
