【Abstract】 Roles of fluorine in sulfided NiW/ γ Al 2O 3 catalysts were studied by XPS and TFD. It was found that fluorine improves the reducibility sulfidability of tungsten species and changes the state of nickel species in the sulfided NiWF/ γ Al 2O 3 catalyst, thus to promote HDS and HDN activity of the catalyst. Fluorine can also improve the ability for hydrogen chemisorption on the catalyst.
