【Abstract】 In this paper, trehalose was used as a cryoprotectant for DM8504 bifidobacterium. The effects of trehalose concentration and mixing time of trehalose solution with centrifuged Bifidobacterium mud on the survival rate of Bifidobacterium during lyophilization and the long-storage were studied. We found that 20% trehalose solution and 20-40 min. mixing time before freezing was essential to get a high survival rate for Bifidobacterium during freeze-drying.
