【Abstract】 This study examined and compared the practices of professional preparation oi undergraduate physical education teachers Between China and the United States. Topics covered in this study included the admission,curriculum content ,and curriculum structure. The most significant characteristics of Chinese Programs were that the selective admissions were strict and the major course of study consumed as much as 75% of the total teaching hours with emphasis on sports skill learning While the most impressive features of the American programs were that the general education comprised of lone third of the total program with a broad coverage of liberal and scientific knowledge base, requirements for professional education were highly emphasized and these requiremints were reflected by the stringent admission and retention standards to teacher education,the length of the directed teaching experience,and the system of teacher licensure.更多还原
