【Abstract】 The petrol engine mcxlified on the basis of the home-made LD2P78 FM petrol engine for 750 mL motorcycle substitutes water cooling for the original natural air cooling with the problem of high hot load settled. The newly-improved engine uses OHV rather than the original side valves, therefore the compression ratio goes up to 7. 5 from 6. 4. the nominal power and max. torque rise by 37. 5% and 20% respectively compared with those of the original engine and the lowest fuel consumption of the external characteristics drops by 8%.
