【Abstract】 Purpose:to investigate the effect of antibiotic prophylaxis in the third molar surgery Ma terial and Method:a total of 195 patients(212 teeth)undergoing operations for removal of one or two impacted mandibular third molar were included in a prospective single blind randomized trial.The teeth (patients)were stratified according to their impacted conditions and then diveded into three groups:one was premedicated with amoxycillin and for the following 24 hours.another received amoxycillin after the operation and the third was given no antibiotics.Results:the respective frequencies of alveolitis were 4.11%,6.49%and 14.47%,and provided a statistical significance (P＜0.05).Conclusion:prophy lactic antibitics prior to surgery were effective in preventing dry socket.更多还原
