【Abstract】 The importance of fire retardandation and history of fire-retardant research of wood materials are summrized. A description is focused on the following remained problems: Leaching resistance of fire retardants; Influence of fire retiredants on wood properties, stickiness and water absorption; Thermal stability and aging resistance of fire-retardant systems; and cost of treatment.
