【Abstract】 SHANXI is one of major birthplaces of Chinese nation and the Yellow River’s civilization and has a great potential to develop tourist industry. In recent times the Party Committee and Government of Shanxi place a special stress on the development of Shanxi’s tourism, Last year some documents concerned were made. including " Several Suggestions about the Broader Opening" and the Suggestions about the Reorganization of Industrial Structure" which introduce the nature and position of tourism in Shanxi’s social and economic development in different angles and set up a goal to make Shanxi a large tourist province in north China. The Party Committee and Government of Shanxi put an important stress on the activities of China’s Travel Year of 1997 in Shanxi and allocate large special funds to the activities in spite of the difficult public finance. Some famous scenic spots in Shanxi have been arranged for the Travel Year, such as the Wutai Mountains, Hukou Waterfall, Yungang Grottoes and Guandi Temple in Yuncheng City. The arrangements also include four major cultural tourist items such as artistic culture, ancient culture. Buddhist culture and 8 travel lines and 10 best scenic spots of Shanxi.更多还原
