【Abstract】 A study of polyphenylene (PP) is always a focus in all kinds of the conjugated polymers. Based on synthesis of poly (N, N-dimethylaniline ) (PDMA ), polynitrobenzene (PNB) is obtained by modifying PDMA with concentrated nitric acid in acetic anhydride.This new nitro-substituted PP is soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone, DMF and THF at room temperature. Thls paper describes the synthetic process and confirms the characteristic of PNB by elementary analysis, NMR, FTIR and UV-Vis spectra, then discusses a possible reaction mechanism.
