【Abstract】 Objective: To study the effect of sulpiride on delusional depression. Method: Eighty patients with delusional depression received sulpiride and were compared with those who took both trilafon and amitriptyline. Results: The therapeutic and side effects of these two groups of drugs were similar, but sulpiride had a quicker onset of action. Discussion: The results supported Kairach’s finding that sulpiride was effective in delusional depression, though the therapeutic mechanism was unclear. Kaskeg et al suggested that there were abnormalities in both the dopamine and norepinephrine neuro-transmitter systems in patients with delusional depression. As a selective inhibitor of DA receptors, sulpiride may stimulate D2 and possibly D1 receptors, and this may account for its antipsychotic effect. The authors recommended that sulpiride was more suitable for elderly and physically weak patients. However, double-blind controlled studies are needed to further address this issue.更多还原
