【Abstract】 Demethyl salvicanol,9(10→20)-abeo-8,11,13-triene-10β,11,12-triol,has been synthesized for the first time by using the intramolecular zinc-promoted coupling reaction of benzyl bromide with ketone and the alkylation of iodide 1-(2-iodoethvl)-3,4-dimethoxy-5-isopropylbenzene with ketone 5,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexen-l-one as the key steps.
