【Abstract】 The effects of media and their components,including different sera, Basic media,and insulin, were studied for in vitro culture of Eimeria tenella from sporozoites to oocysts. The growing speed of cells,the number of second generation schizonts and oocysts were taken as parameters for evaluation. The results indicated that chicken serum was better than fetal bovine serum and Q-MEM was better than RPMI 1640. Insulin in 0. 05μg/ml promoted either cell multiplication or the development of coccidia in vitro. It was suggested that chicken. serum should be used to cultivate Eimeria tenella after the chicken kidney cells were prepared in calf serum in order to increase the yield of oocysts.
