【Abstract】 In order to study the influence of weightlessness,cosmic rays and other facts upon the biological characters of coccidia in chickens,we,for the first time, placed a strain of sporulated Eimeria tenella into a retrievable scientific satellite. After 7-day space mission, the satellite returned to earth. A comparision between the retured coccidia and the control ones was made.The prepatent period of the returned coccidia was two hours later than that of their counterparts.The reproductive index (RI) during the 4-day period after the prepatent period was 2.6 times as much as that of the control group. The average oocysts per gram of feces(OPG)was 3.18 times as much as that of the control goup. The oocyst dimensions of returned coccidia were decreased significantly (P<0. 001).
