【Abstract】 Reactions of 2, 2-pentamethylene-1, 3-dioxan-4, 6-dione with triethyl orthoformate and urea derivatives proceed smoothly to give the corresponding products(4a-f). Lack of the characteristic peak of hydroxyl group in IR of 4a-f indicatesthat the most possible structure of 4 is the intramolecular hydrogen-bondedform.
