【Abstract】 The Genus Coptotermes in China contains up to about over 30 species. The biology of Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki has been studied comparative detail. It takes eight years for colonies of C. formosanus Shiraki in the Guangzhou region to complete a geneation cycle from the pairing of the primary reproductive to the first appearance of alates in the colony. A pair of alates was established by authers on 18 May 1974,The first alate’s swarming occured on 3 May1982.The colony first released alates on five times release occured between 3 May to 2 June 1982: the Sun total of 869 alates were counted. The second release occured form May to June 1985: about several hundred alates relensed. The third release occured from 21 April to 4 June 1987: the sum total of 27813 alates were counted. A similar number of alates 28663 left from the colony in six time flight between 22 May to 7 July 1988. The cold cloudy weather with drizzling rain impels to delay swarming by 15 - 20 days. The fifth releage were 20337 alates from 2 May to June 1989. The sixthrelease occured May to June1991:the sum lotal of 17586 alates were couted The seventh release the sum total of 5835 alates from 15 May to June 1992. The eighth release were 20193 alates from 29 May to 28 June 1993.Sex ratio:females lesser than males. the ratio of females was 9. 25-41. 60%, mean 24. 36% in 1982-1991. But 1992-1993 has happened swarming alates,all of the individuals was males and actuan virtua-lly no females更多还原
